What Is the Difference Between a Food Allergy and Intolerance?

While most of the population is aware of food allergies because they can cause severe reactions, intolerances are much more common, but not always so serious. Food allergies can cause severe reactions, and these allergenic foods should always be avoided. The most common food allergens are milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy and wheat. Allergic reactions can cause rashes, hives, and serious health complications and should always be addressed and EpiPen should at any time. Intolerances are much more common, but not as bad as the allergies are. They can often mimic the symptoms of the flu / cold such as nasal congestion, runny nose, itching, headache, and can also cause eczema, psoriasis, bloating, constipation, including undigested food in feces.

If you have unexplained health problems, or feel constantly running a common problem could be food intolerances. fatigue problems and sinus problems are common in people suffering from food intolerance. It is much more difficult to diagnose allergens / intolerances food as people think. While bloodtests can be a good indicator that they are not always accurate. The variability of the results depends on a number of factors such as how often you eat allergenic foods, genetics and epigenetics. The reason a lot of intolerance is due to genetics, from many different cultures eat staple food crops and some have limited exposure to certain foods. Complicating matters is that many people are now mixed genetic background so its difficult to identify these problems. 

The best way to deal with these intolerances and allergies is to avoid and eliminate them. In my opinion, the Paleo diet and eliminated many intolerances / allergens that people have problems with ordinary food. 

The elimination of soy and wheat would be a start, they do not provide much benefit for all.
